WHY I BECAME A THERAPIST
In 2012 my life shifted. I was just finishing auto mechanic school and intended to continue on to that career. I had come out as transgender a couple years prior and needed to find transgender competent therapy services. I was very dismayed and disappointed in my options. Later that year I went on a trip around the country visiting different LGBTQ communities. I found myself in a natural role of supporting others. I do not shy away from the hard parts of life and have an infinite curiosity about all the ways we choose to live our lives. I took a course in mental health first aid while still travelling and never looked back. I believe there is a need for more gender nonconforming and transgender therapists and I am glad that I get to be one.
